CHILDSCAPES

Creating beautiful play spaces for children

We work with passionate educators and professionals to inspire, design and build beautiful natural play spaces for young children.

Our purpose is to reimagine a childhood where children are connected with the earth through unstructured play in beautiful, nature-based learning environments.

Childscapes is based in Perth, Western Australia.

We offer consultation, design and construction of natural learning environments and resources. We also offer workshops for educators on a variety of topics relating to early childhood environments and curriculum.

Workshops

We want to share our passion for Children and Nature at every possible opportunity and what better way to that than a workshop!

Our workshops start at a 2 hour session, and can be up to a full day seminar depending on the needs of the clients. Our 2 hour workshops start from $33 a head.

We run community workshops and we come to your centre or school for a customised workshop tailored for you.

All workshops are run by Kimberley Beasley, who has a Master of Education and lectures at university level in early childhood education.

Topics:

  • Behaviours and Environments
  • STEM and Nature Play
  • Easy Nature Play ideas
  • Early Childhood Theories
  • Masterclasses in design
  • School readiness through nature play
  • Nature arts and crafts for creativity and fine motor strength
  • Consulting with children in a meaningful way in your program
  • Nature play for Babies and toddlers
  • Aesthetics in Early Education

Consultations and Audits

We can visit your centre and consult with you on your indoor and outdoor environments. We can mentor educators one-on-one to improve practices and help educators grow professionally.

A learning environment rating audit is useful to determine how effective, engaging, child-focused, natural and aesthetically pleasing your  learning spaces are. The audits are used to set goals to improve the learning environments to better match you philosophy, the NQF, the EYLF and current research around children’s learning environments.

How Much Does It Cost to Build a Nature Play Space?

Jul022019adminUncategorized

I often get asked how much it costs to build a nature play space. This is a very difficult question to answer as every space is so unique and each school and service want something slightly different that suits them. I have tried to compile below a list of considerations for building a nature play…

Acknowledgement of Country in your Play Space

May312019adminUncategorized

With this week in Australia being Reconciliation Week, I have been thinking about the design work I do and how I can incorporate Aboriginal Culture into what I do. Quite often I do this at consultation level with the early learning centres and schools as I work with them. Something that I have thought about…

Your space as your visual philosophy

May242017Kimberley BeasleyUncategorized

Every space in your service or school and everything in those spaces is a depiction of your educational philosophy. In a service where the educators know, live and breath the philosophy, it will be obvious to visitors and families just by looking at the spaces, what your philosophical values and beliefs are. If your philosophy…
